Coaching
If you are a coach or are interested in coaching there are a number of ways in which you can volunteer - please contact the junior coordinator or club captains
- Our coaches for Tuesday and Wednesday evening training would like assistant coaches
- Junior training on Sunday mornings relies on coaches for each of the junior age groups
- We have a number of player/ coaches playing in senior teams who help the younger players to develop
From 1st Jan 2012 we are required to have qualified level 2 coaches to run sessions although we will still be looking to have assistant (level 1) coaches to help with all sessions and parent coaches to help with junior sessions. We would therefore like to encourage all those interested in qualifying as a level 1 coach to attend a course and volunteer to help with training - the club will pay the fees for a level 1 course if you intend to use the qualification to support training at the club. if you continue to enjoy coaching and want to take on more responsibility at the club we will pay the fees for a level 2 course (half at the time of booking and half when you qualify) as well as requisite first aid and child protection courses.
If you would like to attend a course please apply to member of the committee with details of the course, including the dates for the particular course and details of how this will help you support training at the club. Details of courses can be found on the England Hockey website - these can be found at http://www.englandhockey.co.uk/page.asp?section=779§ionTitle=Find+a+Course.
We can also provide opportunities for older juniors to assist in some of the junior training to help them work towards young leaders awards and Duke of Edinburgh awards. Please contact the junior coordinator if you are interested.
